The Video College are offering ‘Final Cut Pro’ training for beginners!

It’s a four day course (18th, 19th, 25th and 26th July 2011), 9.30-6pm.

Aims of the course:
To introduce students to video editing using Final Cut Pro. Give a grounding in the basics of editing from DV tape and back to DV tape.

Required knowledge:
Basic computer skills and preferably an understanding of Mac OS systems.

The British Youth Council (BYC) are running a survey on school nurses with the UK Department of Health to ensure the views of young people shape what school nurses do.

The Department of Health’s decision only affect young people in England but they welcome the responses of young people, aged 11-18 across the UK too.

Deadline for the survey is Sunday 31st July.

You’ll have the opportunity to meet Croydon’s Borough Commander and ask him questions about local policing and the police’s relationship towards young people. You could really make a difference!

Local Energy is a small start-up social enterprise. It specialises in providing support to public sector organisations on compliance with the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme. Local Energy runs a network of 100 organisations, which it supports with workshops (three per annum) and telephone support. Local Energy also provides specialist support to individual organisations covering a wide range of low carbon policies.

Purpose of the Job

Local Energy is finalising an exciting new partnership with the Energy Saving Trust, which will enable it to grow and fulfil its potential as the main provider of low carbon advice to the public sector. The role will be to implement the new marketing strategy for Local Energy. This includes generating income, servicing public sector organisations and building Local Energy’s reputation.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Market the services of Local Energy via telephone and internet.
• Answer the Local Energy telephone Hotline and ensure that the right person is sent the query.
• Keep accurate records of Hotline inquiries.
• Identify sales opportunities related to Hotline inquiries.
• Keep the website (which is blog based) up to date.
• Check in on the ‘Linkedin’ community associated with the website.
• Develop the Local Energy online marketing offer.
• Help out with events (some travel may be required).

Requirements for the Job

• Good telephone manner and written communication skills.
• Enthusiasm for generating sales.
• Interest in climate change (desirable but not essential).
• Familiarity with blog sites and social media.
• Good organisation, accurate record keeping.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Willingness to work in the informal context of a small start-up.

Important information

This Internship is for 3 Months Full time (37 hours per week) with the possibility of extension based upon candidates work. The start date is the 12th July and candidates who are shortlisted MUST be able to attend the interview date on the 7th July 2011.
